Overview

The Accountant will provide accounting expertise to ensure the timely and accurate processing and reporting of accounting and financial transactions and will assist with implementing rigorous processes that ensure strong internal controls. This position will require an individual who has a solid understanding of the fundamentals of accounting, accounting process and system improvements and internal controls. 

This position offers a hybrid working schedule.

Responsibilities

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist with weekly/biweekly payroll processing
  • Perform month-end close activities for financial statement reporting
  • Provide support and maintain costing for projects and inventory
  • Participate and assist in formal and informal process improvement efforts
  • Assist with annual physical inventory counts with Materials group; produce inventory reconciliations
  • Assist with internal and external audits
  • Perform credit review for customer prospects
  • Provide training to other departments to explain accounting procedures and ensure accurate financial reporting

Qualifications

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related field
  • 0-4 years accounting experience including accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, and general ledger, preferably in a unionized, manufacturing environment
  • Public accounting experience desirable
  • Position offers flexibility options, including a hybrid option, and requires the person filling this role to be in office 50% of the time after training

SKILLS

  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Outlook
  • Experience with ERP software (SyteLine preferred)
  • Understanding of accounting principles, including revenue recognition principles
  • Understanding of internal controls, process flows and policies and procedures
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and delegate tasks to meet timelines
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to work and effectively interact with various departments throughout the organization
  • Ability to perform in a fast-paced, forward-thinking work environment
