Systems Control is seeking a Vice President of Human Resources for our Iron Mountain, Michigan office.  The VP of HR will serve a crucial role in leading, driving and guiding the development of HR strategies and day-to-day operations that will support the company’s aggressive business growth. 

As a direct report to the President, you will be a strategic business partner to the Executive Leadership Team. 


  • Implement industry leading practices in the core HR functions of policy, compensation, benefits, staffing, recruitment, labor relations, management training, organizational development, safety, wellness, and compliance
  • Foster union relationships and management of Collective Bargaining Agreement, which includes contract interpretation, implementation, contract analysis, negotiations, grievances, arbitration, etc. 
  • Develop and implement annual and multi-year strategies to recruit, retain, and develop top talent for management, technical, and production roles
  • Create and execute the company Talent Strategy through workforce planning, employment branding, talent assessment, candidate engagement and hiring processes to meet the growth demands of the business
  • Manage progressive and proactive compensation and benefits programs to reward effective performance and ensure internal and market equity
  • Provide leadership and direction for the company’s environmental, health and safety programs
  • Cultivate relationships with key business partners and external resources
  • Establish credibility as a trusted confidante, listener and problem solver to effectively manage employee relations


  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources or business administration, SPHR or MBA preferred
  • 10-15 years of HR experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment
  • 5 years of increasingly responsible HR Management and labor relations experience in a unionized environment
  • Understanding of Lean Manufacturing
  • Proven analytical, problem solving, and conflict resolution skills
  • Proactively takes responsibility and ownership to address issues and concerns at all levels of the organization
  • Excellent coach and team leader who can champion change
